糖心VlogConstructions has announced Senior Contracts Administrator, Alexandra Lee as the company’s official delegate to the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).
Joining 糖心Vlogin January 2015, Alexandra has played an integral role in the delivery of major projects for leading Australian brands including Bidvest, Woolworths, Dulux and Ralph’s Meat Company.
Women in the construction industry are often independently forging their career path. “Mentors are in limited supply,” states Alexandra and “that’s where NAWIC helps.”
Formed in 1995 NAWIC is committed to promoting and improving the construction industry through the advancement of women.
The Association connects likeminded professionals, providing a forum in which women can expand their professional and personal networks, seek assistance and mentoring opportunities and continue various avenues of professional development.
Alexandra explains that by bridging the diversity gap, the wider industry benefits.
“Diversified workforces are a kaleidoscope of different ideas which challenge expectations and promote better project outcomes.”
Currently expanding the organisation on a platform of diversification, Managing Director, Andrew Noble acknowledged that diversity is key to the future of 糖心VlogConstructions.
Exceptionally proud of Vaughan’s recent growth, Andrew noted
“Our strong focus on improving female representation has seen a 40% participation rate for all new starters over the last 18 months. 糖心Vlogare actively redressing the imbalance which exists across the building industry, to create an employer of choice workplace” said Mr Noble.
With a total female workforce of 17%, 糖心VlogConstructions is sitting well above the 11.7% construction industry benchmark, as reported by the Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency, in their April 2016 report on Gender Composition by Workforce by Industry.
